gorilla trekking in uganda

When did you last visit Uganda or do you have plans of visiting this small East African Country? You are probably not sure of what to do and see when you Uganda and if you had four days what would you do? However, let it be known that you can spend over 7 days in Uganda or even longer but if you have only 4 days to spare, we bring you the most interesting things you can do or see in the Pearl of Africa.

To make this safari interesting, it doesn’t involve the day of arrival into the country. Therefore our first day starts with transferring from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This Park is made for any adventure-seeker and primate lover with almost half the World’s population of Mountain gorillas. With over 19 habituated gorilla groups, this Park is an ideal place to meet face to face with Great Apes in their natural environment, until you bump into the huge silverbacks. This day involves road trips from Kampala City to Kisoro/Kabale then finally to Bwindi, with lunch en-route and popular stopovers like Igongo Cultural Center and Uganda Equator. Arrive in the evening and have dinner and well as overnight rest at one of the beautiful Lodges overlooking the pristine rainforest.

On the second day, you will undertake the activity you always wanted to do; trekking the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. As you will spend hours trekking these Great Apes in the wild, other residents of the Park such as chimpanzees, elephants, butterflies, Albertine Rift endemic bird species, L’Hoests monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and many other exciting things will make you appreciate the “Pearl of Africa”. After the one hour spent observing and photographing the mountain gorillas, visitors get back to their respective Lodges for a delicious meal and rest for the rest of the afternoon.

The other fascinating activity worth undertaking on this day is the visit to Batwa Community. In the evening you head to the nearby Batwa community to learn about their culture, lifestyle, and traditional dances.

On the third day, you embark on a journey to the nearby Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. Your journey is marked by scenic views of the rolling hills and arrival to the shores in the afternoon for lunch at the Resort, serving local and foreign cuisines. In the afternoon enjoy a canoe/boat ride on this Lake to explore the different spectacular Islands with their beautiful natural vegetation and bird species. The beautiful views of the Lake and everything you come across is the highlight of your visit. Return from the Boat/canoe trip and enjoy dinner at the same Resort, with options of unwinding along the stunning beaches or listening to some cool music at the Lodge.

On the last day of your 4 days Uganda gorilla safari Itinerary, early in the morning, embark in your car for a journey to Kampala. This won’t be a direct drive to Kampala but instead, transverse through the spectacular Lake Mburo National Park for short game drives, and for your last day in Uganda, you can take a flight back home.
