Our Students LEAD Uganda finds bright child soldiers, abducted girls, AIDS orphans, children in refugee camps, children living by themselves, and working children who have a strong motivation to attend university and lead their country. LEAD Uganda enrolls 75 students in the best boarding schools in Uganda. We provide these Our children have faced war, AIDS, unbelievable hardships. Despite these obstacles, our children are excelling. Last term: Six of our 44 non-candidate students ranked 1st in their class. Three were 2nd in their class. One each placed 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Twenty -- nearly half of our students -- ranked in the top 10 of their classes. Thirty-one ranked in the top 20. Five of our ten candidate class students received first grades. Ntege Paul, who worked in a rock quarry, won a scholarship to what may be the top high school in all of Africa -- the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa. • Bayona Victoria was selected by Kings College Budo as one of two Ugandan exchange students at The Brooks School in Massachusetts for six weeks. • Katongole Godfrey attended a youth conference in Nigeria. • Kasozi Hilda attended a youth leadership conference in Los Angeles. Academic Achievements — 2nd Term, 2008 Results Pinyoloya Patricia, Nantaayi Sarah, Nakasumba Victoria, Muwanguzi Joseph, Kayiranga John, and Namakula Afuat ranked 1st in his classes. Omoya Amos, Acan Martah, and Muwonge Fahad were 2nd in their class. Naluuwooza Maria was 3rd. Ntege Paul was 4th. Wetaka Brian was 5th. Kaggwa Fred, Ssenyange Frank, Nalubwana Shakira, Mugala Maureen,Kibirige Ibrahim, Jjuko Joachim, Ssekanjako Musa, and Nantongo Madinah were in the top ten. Lubega Benon, Baidu John, Wasswa Stephen, Olweny Richard, Kawere Umar, Kimbowa Julius, Nakyeyune Sanyu, Kawooya Brian,Sergo Ivan, and Nabukenya Shirat placed in the top twenty. Student Leaders Namakula Afuat, who is only in 8th grade, was elected Deputy Head Prefect (vice president) of her school. Kasozi Hilda (11th grade), Kimbiwa Julius (10th), and Bayona Victoria (13th) were elected Deputy Head Prefects. Kamoga Moses is Minister of Education and founder of the Debate Club. Kibalama Joseph is Minister of Water & Power. Muwanguzi Joseph and Bukenya Aloysious are Class Monitors. Kayaranga John is Head Prefect. Ojok Charles is Compund Prefect. Jjuko Joachim and Wasswa Stephen are House Fathers.
