My story

“My father and mother died from HIV/AIDS when I was 3-years-old. I am an only child. I was adopted by Aunt Elizabeth after the death of my parents. There are other children at Aunt Elizabeth’s house and they are my brothers and sisters.

When I was 5-years-old, I joined Victoria Learning Center. I was so excited to be in school for the first time and I couldn’t wait for each new day to go to school. I performed well in class and I was the teacher’s favorite. My best subject is English.

In 5th grade, my school fees weren’t forthcoming, because of the number of children at Aunt Elizabeth’s house had multiplied and money wasn’t enough for us all. However she kept pushing us on in school until when 7th grade, the last class in junior school.

My biggest worry became high school, because there was no hope for school fees. This year, a friend of Aunt Elizabeth visited us and promised to find us someone who would help us stay in school. I was so excited to be told that L.E.A.D Uganda will sponsor my education.

I am so happy that I can be in school and read without minding about my school fees. I have peace of mind now. I am determined to become a medical doctor in future..”
