My story

“I completed primary school at Motherly Love Nursery and Primary School last year. My school fees have been hard to come by. I was always in and out of school because my mum didn’t have a permanent job. My father, who deserted us for another woman, was less supportive. Sometimes the school Headmistress had to come to my rescue to help me at least sit examinations and pay later. My situation was growing worse each day because none of the solutions available was consistent. It always portrayed me as a beggar and this greatly affected my esteem.

As I was joining Primary 7, my mum visited L.E.A.D Uganda and asked if I could be helped, but in vain. She was told we were late, but they promised to take me in if I obtained a 1st grade in my National PLE exams. I become more determined to work hard because of the opportunity that was available. Sometimes I could not sleep, but read and read.

This year in January our results came back. I scored highly and passed with 1st grade of 11 aggregates. I was so excited and thanked God that he had heard my prayers. I took my results to LEAD and I was congratulated. They took me for interviews at Kalinabiri Secondary School and I was admitted in 8th grade.

I am so happy and grateful to God to having joined L.E.A.D Uganda.
