My story

“I live with my grandmother in Sanje, Rakai District. I am told my father disappeared. My Mum abandoned at my grandma’s house. I am told my mother got married to someone in a distant village. I don’t remember them.

I went to government funded school, so my grandmother didn’t have to pay any school fees.  But she still had to buy me books and other school requirements. My grandmother was growing weak and she used to borrow money to buy me books. I was often sent home because I didn’t have shoes or a proper school uniform. I wanted to continue in school but I had no idea how to continue in school without being chased away for lack of fees.

L.E.A.D Uganda visited our village in 2010 and my grandma took me to be interviewed. I  was more than excited when I was told that I was successful. I am now in a top school boarding in Kampala, Mbuya Parents Primary School.

I want to become a medical doctor. I want to work in our local hospital to help the people in our village get better health services. I also want to help orphans go to school.
