My story
“My father died when I was still a young boy. I do not have any memories of him. My mother is all I know as a parent. Our elder brother Edgar Kwagala was the father we had. In my village Kitovu, we owned a piece of land on which my Mum grew potatoes and bananas, which we ate. She didn’t have any sources of income for our education. My elder brother depended on bursaries from the local school because he was an excellent student.
When I was 6-years-old, I joined grade 1 for at a local school; I had only to carry a book and a pen because it was a Government funded school. I had a dream of becoming a doctor and so I was determined to work hard to excel. When my elder brother joined grade 8, L.E.A.D Uganda started helping out and i envied him a lot, because I too wanted the same help.
When I joined Grade 4, I was introduced to LEAD by my brother. After an interview they agreed to sponsor my education. At that moment i was the happiest person in the world. I joined an elite school called Leos Junior Academy. I got 8 aggregates (an A grade) on 7th Grade National Exams, so I am now at a very good school – Seeta High School.
My road to being a doctor is now clear. I can’t wait to join university.”
