My story
“I live with my father, mother and seven siblings. My father was found to be HIV positive. Since this happened, he has became less and less supportive of the family. Our mum took on all the fatherly roles , but it was hard for her because the number of my siblings is overwhelming. So, some of my brothers had to be sent to stay with our distant relatives as conditions at home worsened.
I become wary of my schooling. School fees was not forthcoming. I had to stay home often to help out my Mum. I got enrolled in a cheap missionary school where we learned only to read and count. I was not happy. I felt I wanted more in school than what the missionary school had to offer.
When L.E.A.D Uganda visited our village, I was one of the kids who were invited to attend the interviews. They accepted me. I was excited to learn that I had been selected for sponsorship in a good school outside my home area. I am now studying at Mbuya Parent’s Primary School, a very good boarding school in Kampala.
I want to be an artist. I have always loved music, art and drama. I hope to help my village through art. I will use art to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and its’ prevention.
