My story

“I am an AIDS orphan. My father died when I was young. I became the primary caregiver for my sick, bed-ridden mother. She did not have money for school fees.

But, thanks to L.E.A.D Uganda, I earned a full government scholarship to study business at Makerere University, the best college in Uganda. I am first grateful to God. Getting a government scholarship in Statistics in today’s competitive world is almost impossible. I owe my gratitude to L.E.A.D Uganda and my sponsors for their love for my future. I have always promised not to disappoint them and I have lived by my word.

Being educated in Kings College Budo, Uganda’s legendary school, really paid off. I was elected Assistant Head Prefect at my high school. In 2006, I was chosen as one of two students to participate in a two-month student exchange at The Brooks School in Massachusetts. During school vacations I worked full time as a volunteer with a church organization counseling and tutoring vulnerable children.

As a result of my hard work in high school and the awarding of this scholarship by Uganda’s government to study business statistics, I am proud to join a privileged few women students who will be able to acquire professional management skills so vital to Uganda’s well being. I think I was created for a time like this because society needs people who add value, people who contribute to its’ well-being. With my degree in statistics, I will be capable and I will be more than ready to help Uganda face the challenges of this age and beyond.”
