In Memory - Our Inspiration

Mike Forzley, Steve's friend and mentor, who died too early from cancer. Mike's work at Friends of the Children inspired us and provided a model for L.E.A.D Uganda. His guidance and service on the board helped us make this an exceptional program. He remains forever in our hearts.
Two Organizations / Same Name We use the same name, L.E.A.D Uganda, because we have the same mission of helping children achieve, but - since we are in two sovereign nations, there are two separate organizations. In Uganda L.E.A.D Uganda is registered as a local NGO. In the United States the Stephen Shames Foundation DBA L.E.A.D Uganda is a 501(c)3 non-profit.
