L.E.A.D Uganda finds bright child soldiers, abducted girls, AIDS orphans, children in refugee camps, children living by themselves, and working children who have a strong motivation to attend university and help their country. We help forgotten children achieve.
L.E.A.D Uganda enrolls 90 students in the best boarding schools in Uganda. We provide these children with education, room and board, clothing, medical care, and a family.
Our children have faced war, AIDS, unbelievable hardships. Despite these obstacles, our children are excelling.
In the fall of 2009:
Three of our students – Katongole and Bayona – received scholarships to university.
Two of our students received full Government of Uganda scholarships to Makerere University, Uganda’s best college.
A third – Moses – was awarded a scholarship to study Information Technology / Computers in India.
One of our students was accepted at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg,one of Africa’s top high schools.
Ntege, who worked in a rock quarry as a child started at the African Leadership Academy last September. He will graduate in June.
Our students continue to excel academically. During the fall term of 2009:
- Forty-three of our sixty-four primary and secondary students (67%) received top marks at the best schools last term.
- Thirty (nearly half) received A averages or first grades on their national exams. Six compiled A-plus marks.
Three ranked 1st in their classes. Three were second.
Our students are leaders.
Fifteen of our students were elected or appointed to leadership positions at their schools during second term of 2009.
